W.4.21.04:
I'm still alive! I swear!
Crazy
works days + needing sleep and the onslaught of colds (grr) = lack of
updates. My apologies to the diehard fans of this site. New quotes are
up now though. More instore for the site as well. New work w/ who did
BENDER has begun. Still in planning stages byt be sure to check out
their new site. Very sweet. Also another band to check out - Ode. Nice
mellowesque but in the vein of APC's slower stuff.

Why can't setting up a fun bowling nite be EASY! I just want a nice
fun nite w friends having a good goofy time but no alleys have to have
new attitude ridden sitches. :( If this all doesn't work, I'm gonna
be upset. Ok enough crabbing. My Jeff Buckley tab is finished printing
and I HAVE to learn this song.

I can finish the images I had had for months. Gotta love it.
Who Did BENDER @ Metro - Friday March 19th!!!!! This
was once again a freak out/running around happy news. Then, I get the
Ticketmaster mailing list an' BOOM! there they are! You must remember
that this is the official Ticketmaster list - so it goes to people allll
over! Talk about exposure! I am sooo happy for the guys. :) More about
this later.
Hopefully snowboarding pix will be in my possession soon.
For now the guestbook is here.
New update rants will be in the ramblings section not the main page
from now on.

50 First Dates sndtrk - 2 in a row, I know. I can't help it. I'm
addicted to this CD. Try to listen and NOT want to dance... I DARE YOU!
Su.2.22.04:
50 First Dates.... GO SEE IT!
I saw it opening weekend (Diva Day weekend...no not Valentines Day weekend,
Diva Day weekend. As usual my anti-day quota was up due to the lack
of a valentine (I'll save you all my rant of idiot guys in abundance)
an' the closing of Fannie May. ::sniff::) Anywho.... suuuuuuch a cute
movie. It was like bi-polar laugh/cry the whole time. True I am a sap
for movies an' will start bawling but it's just a sweet story. She loses
her shortterm memory and so he makes her fall inlove with him every
day. ::sigh:: How romantic!
The addition to "WOW this rocks" is the soundtrack. 80's music
redone w/ a reggae spin. Nick Hexum was listed in the credits too so
there's a little 311 in it too - both band and sound.
It's funny how music works. Ok maybe not funny, but how its like BOOM
an' you are back in time. Anytime I hear 80's music I'm back to "kid-dom"
and reggae music is high school - every yr Mulitcultural week - reggae
band closing the week/day (when it got shortened due to too many people
cutting classes for a week an' not going to things...oopos.) The entire
group would be the first ones on the gym floor dancing around. I wish
I had pix of that. Those were good times.
I found this one by chance. No anti-Quizilla rantings now! It's a good
time killer. I just thought this one is funny b/c it has the whole look
you are a rockstar deally.
Capricorn Drinking style: Capricorn is usually described as practical,
steadfast, money-hungry and status-thirsty -- no wonder they get left
off the astrological cocktail-party list. But this is the sign of David
Bowie and Annie Lennox, not to mention Elvis. Capricorn is the true
rock star: independent, powerful and seriously charismatic, not too
eager to please. And if they make money being themselves, who are you
to quibble? But just like most rock stars, they're either totally on
or totally off, and they generally need a little social lubricant to
loosen up and enjoy the after party, especially if they can hook up
with a cute groupie.
Alcohoroscopes-
what do the stars say about your drinking style
brought to you by Quizilla
Nothing else for tonite. I have plans for update more in the near future.
Have some new stuff to upload. I'm doing some new flyers so they will
be up soon. :) Work just has been insane. Friday was crazy and fridays
are NEVER crazy.
Rant for this update:
This music makes me too happy. No rant for today other
than that I miss some of my friends. Need to have a major group outing
sometime soon.

T.2.10.04:
There I am checking my email earlier and there's one from Hopeless Records.
True, I am on their mailing list but this time it was different. The
email was about Break the Silence's new CD. The crazy thing is I went
to high school with the singer Dan W. No, I'm not pulling the "I
am saying I knew someone so I can be 'cool' now." It's the truth.
He used to "steal" food from me @ lunch an' we had art together
- when I would borrow a hoodie time to time since I'm usually cold.
Then while checking out info on Warped 2004, there is a big thing on
Much the Same. Again - high school/grammer school people.
It's not really that I'm super suprised that they're getting recognition
now. There's a lot of bands that are getting it. (Lucky Boys Confusion
doesn't play in forest preserves anymore an' The Dog & Everything
has music on a MTV show.) I just get a bigger kick out of it when there's
some sort of more personal tie to the bands. You fig, w/ most of my
friends either music junkies, in a band, or playing some sort of instrument
or at times more than one, it's gonna happen.
It's just one of the norms, I guess. I have nothing against the non-music
people. When you can find someone who understands the greatness of driving
through snow with a ton of cash to buy a brand new guitar and the waddling
like a duck to get it to the car w/o wiping out, there's just more of
a connection. Or flipping out while doing a mass IMing webnetwork to
set up where you are meeting/who is all going for a concert that is
about 4 months away. Or insisting on playing a CD for someone so much
that they are gonna hurt you if you don't shut up.
Ok enough of my rockstar afterschool special. lol.
New links up. I plan on reorganizing the page sometime soon b/c that
layout is bugging me. As always too, I want to redo this entire thing
but as expected, I can't decide on one thing. lol. BAH!
Rant for this update:
Dear
Mother Nature,
I know you have to follow this whole seasons pattern but can't you ease
up a little. You have to fig reaaaaaaaallllly cold weather + a TON of
snow must have gotten the icky weather out of your system. The fashion
mags are taunting me with their spring lines and I am sick of wearing
3 million layers while walking to work.

Horoscope from the Trib:
"Today's
Birthday(Jan. 16). You're strong and you'll be even stronger this
year with the help of an excellent team. Learn from experience."
ROCK!
On my way home today I was contemplating the whole living in the city
sitch. Of course this is the dream-state in which I can afford the insanely
high rent in the South Loop and the place is one of the nice, not super
high ones w/ a balcony where I can put my cement pagoda. (True, I don't
have it YET, but I will someday. I want a cement dragon to go w/ it
too.) So as I am lulled into a nice post work daze by the TOOL cd I
was listening to as I'm looking out the window.... BAM! Super volume
overdrive! lol. It was jump - rip jack out of discman - lower volume.
So you can say I started this "new" year with a bang. Yes,
yes I know - cheesy but I'm in a good mood. (Minus this evil cold that
I want away NOW.)
Speaking
of cheesy - cute cheesy movie --Down With Love. I wouldn't say I absolutely
MUST run out and buy it but it was cute. + Renee sings, a la Empire

and from the vid clips, I think they're good.
No snowboarding pix to post until.... WHO KNOWS due to EriK being in

to post them all. I haven't seen all of them yet but it still would
have been funny to post some. Hopefully I'll have them sometime soon
but most likely they will be up after snowboarding season has ended.
Oh well.
The new "logo" is up but as always, not sure if I'm going
to stick w it. It's been hard to do design work w this computer being
all wonky and the screen being "off its rocker." lol. Bear

Don't
forget now - "if God is a DJ, life is a dancefloor, love is the

Rant for this update:
The new season of America's Next Top Model has started.
(This is not my first rant regarding this show - look at the archives
page to find the other (T.06.17.03.)) I had actually thought of trying
this season. Looked up the info on the website and everything but didn't.
In a way, I'm glad I didn't but in a way I wish I had. (I haven't really
done any modeling in a couple of yrs so it would have been fun.)
Well first show they keep talking about the short girl. Are we talking
something like really petite? Nope. Five foot seven is considered SHORT!
Bah. True I knew most runway stuff you need to be around 5'9" or
so but c'mon that's not short. lol. I was having a discussing w/ Kristine
about this and she agrees with me.
The season, I think, will be somewhat interesting. The group is semi-evil/catty
so that always adds to the drama.

A slightly late HAPPY 2004 to everyone.
Now that I can think correctly, well only slightly due to being a little
loopy from cold medicine - I HATE being sick, I figed it was time for
an update.
I could ramble on about resolutions but honestly I can't settle on any.
True, most people can't make any and keep them. I just can't decide
on some. lol. I'm just thinking along the lines of ME. Ok, I can be
conceited. This is my site after all.... ::lil smile:: Ok, a general
idea - more time w friends, more adventure/fun outings, more SNOWBOARDING,
more music videos, more art, more music, more writing. Yeah, I know
a lot of stuff... oh wait, learn another language... that too. So yes,
I fig no more school, good job, good friends (old and new) plus according
to several horroscopes this is supposed to be a good year for me. Hmmmmmm.
::raises eyebrow: We shall see.
New Yrs = suuuuch a great nite. You cannot go wrong spending it w/ a
bunch of your oldest friends. I love it when there's a group you can
party w after not seeing for sometime for whatever reason and it is
like you just saw them the weekend before. Hey Ya has finally earned
something other than Joey dancing w the radio on his head from some
time back and Sean Paul music will never be the same. lol.
Snowboarding. ::lil evil smile:: I'm hooked. I want to go again. :)
Rant for this update:
Why
is it that the L keeps its doors open LONGER in winter? I'm serious
about this. I think it is some sort of conspiracy at Roosevelt to keep
the doors open until everyone starts rewrapping their 52 layers of outerwear
to keep warm before they begin adhereing to the frozen metal of the
seats. BAH! C'mon people. I have nothing against public transporation
- been riding it all my life an' now to work and back every day. That
just makes no sense.

T.12.16.03:
Happy Friday Everyone!
2 recents updates!
AHHHHH! SOOOO SHOCKING - and I'm not talking about the morning at work
where I couldn't touch anything metallic w/o getting shocked. lol.
I have decided to start up a new section once the new version is alive.
I ramble on and on about fashion waaaay to much, this I know. I can't
help it. Getting Harper's Bazaar, Lucky, and Allure only fuels this
fire. I mentioned the awesome, yet insanely expensive, boots before.
So basically it is going to end up being sort of a locale so that when
I do the - AHHHH this is so cute/blah blah blah to people and they want
to see it they can.
My Xmas shopping is still not done - so much for being better this yr.
Oops. I have a feeling I will have shopping horror stories from all
the crazy people and crazy people with strollers. (Note: I have nothing
against small children. It's the stupid people pushing the munchkins
who annoy me. Hmmm an idea for a future rant perhaps.....
Rant for this update: 2 for today
#1
I hate my dryer. It is evil. I know you are thinking something along
the lines of "Ok, K has offically lost it now. She is talking about
major appliances." This is true though. It is evil. It attatcked
me last nite like some sort of demented muppet, or the trolls from Labyrinth,
and bit my hand. So now I have this gash in my middle finger of my left
hand from when it decided to bang closed on my hand even though I opened
it all the way where it is supposed to "lock." Good thing
it isn't my right or my handwriting would be even more interesting.
The real reason for the rant however is NO GUITAR! Bah. I have slacked
waaaaay too much w/ it lately. (Should've spent the $ on real lessons
instead of just learning bits and pieces of G&R and Metallica a
ways back from people.) I had this big plan of getting back to it but
now I can barely bend it to type so that kinda kills the idea.
#2
I was listening to Pooch's show today, the only time I listen to the
X really anymore. Since it was actually webstreaming, I could actually
HEAR my songs. Then it is not just have them played with him sending
them out to me and not knowing. ( I lost Sublime, Bif Naked, and Bob
Marley music due to this before. BAH.) So I call, make my request -
Who Did BENDER & Janus, and listen. I get half of the Janus song
and then ::BOOM:: nothing! It won't stream. It won't buffer. It won't
DO ANYTHING! So I call, let Pooch know and find out it is a LIVE version
of wdB that I have NEVER heard. grrrrrrrr.

T.12.16.03: 1 month 'til my birthday....but who's counting?
Happy cold, yucky,
I hate standing in the cold waiting for my bus season! lol. I finally
broke down and put away ALL of my summery summery clothes. ::sob:: I
am not against winter that much, being a winter baby and all... though
b-day kiddie parties never really worked due to the BLIZZARD weather
that was more than likely around my birthday. I just hate being cold.
The one good thing is TIME TO GO SHOPPING! Yes, I know I am a big dork
but I can't help it. Plus I need/want more work clothes... well ok I
WANT them more than need them. lol. Oh yes and if anyone is willing
to give me $1,200 + tax for a sweet pair of knee-high black leather
boots I will gladly accept it. (I'm not talking like the ones I already
own either. These have these cool lil buckles and high skinny heels.
Perhaps I'll put the scanned magazine pic on here.)
I keep ranting about how I am redoing this site and once again it has
been put on hold. Well, somewhat. My darling monster of a computer has
decided to go even more haywire. BAH. There used to be the evil blue
screen of death causing fear in the hearts of men. Well mine is the
pink screen of aggravating. Magenta, Mauve, PINK. Evil Evil!
New quotes are up.
New band - The Tracks. Good stuff. A big thank you for telling me about
them. I still hate, well ok not hate but think not so highly of, Quigley's
but to see a band play there ok. To tick off people b/c their cigarette
smoke was choking my friends, now that is beautiful. To the moron whining
to his friend b/c I was waving YOUR smoke out of my face - I can tell
you where you can stick that cigarette. I'm just glad he didn't say
anything b/c it was too good of a nite w/ all the fun covers and dancing.
heehee.
More new bands - 99 Octane. Dave from wdB's other band. Very nice. Just
got it last nite and I am impressed. A bit heavier than the wdB cd yet
I still like it. It kind of reminded me of TOOL and mellower Pantera
at times. The whole time I was listening to it I kept thinking of how
it would so be soundtrack music. Sometimes I think I should have gone
into film stuff like I had planned when I was younger (Main Title design
and whatnot was the original plan) since riding home w the headphones
I'm always setting the music to scenes. Maybe I'll make a movie... hmmmm
ok maybe not but tis a possibilty which would be really sweet if it
came to be.
Speaking of something really sweet or to us the guys work SICK - wdB
@ Metro -
This was one of those nights that you swear you are going to wake up
and it is all going to be a dream. It was truly that surreal. When I
found out about the show for the first time, I just stared at the screen
for a moment so that my brain could realize what I just read. One of
my favorite bands at my favorite venue - SWEET! Of course this lead
to the usual barrage of "You HAVE to go to this show!" C'mon
now, if you really think of it an awesome band at a great venue for
FREE.
So Mellie, Janine and I make the trek through the land of crazy expressway
drivers that like to stop and look at towtrucks to the Metro. There
it was on the marquee - WHO DID BENDER.
(of course got pix of that) Look out world, here comes wdB!
Brian was running around like a superball in a pinball machine and Nick
was trying to find people. I saw Luke only for a split second and Dave
didn't appear until they showed up on stage. I don't take offense to
any of this though. I know how it is before shows. I just have to say
THANK YOU once again for my shirt....verrrrrrry nice.
So the show was amazing. I knew these guys were going to play Metro.
They just have it. You see bands that are just meant to play Metro.
When they are on stage, they just fit. The set rocked and everyone really
got into it. It was sooo nice to be in a crowd that was singing along
with the band with you. True there were a number of bands on the bill
so wdB could only play for a set time but forget all the other bands.
Leave the wdB banner up. I would've just had it where the guys played
all night.
True, Janine and Mellie were newbies show wise but I still got them
hooked. Hmmm next move, get them singing/dancing around w me at the
next show. I don't think that will be hard though.
So what's next.... HOB? Warped Tour? opening band for a major label
band? Hmmmmm.
The one thing I know for a fact is there's going to be a new CD and
I can't wait to hear it.
Rant for this update:

Th.10.16.03:
I had originally decided not to update until I uploaded the
new version. (It is stalled once again due to my not being happy w/
part of the graphics - I'm picky w my art ... I can't help it.) Since
people have been asking me about the site, here's some new stuff...well
not stuff stuff, but you understand.
I love seeing my "old crew" (friends that I met way back in
hs.) Got the chance to hang out w them recently. Oh the memories w that
group. Perhaps in the future I shall post some old skool pix.
Fri was another Pooch show. I don't know if this one actually had a
technical name - the flyers were basically freddy vs jason-esque so
I stuck w a slasher theme. Detour played. They did this rocking out
Sweet Home Alabama cover that turned into G&R at the end. Hadn't
seen them play since the shortstop show so twas nice to see them play
again. I finally got to see this band that got talked about so much
- Janus. I had heard their music on the air and it sounded good. I was
quite impressed by their set. Verrrry good stuff. SA played as well.
Finally got to hear their cover of Anything, Anything (the song from
freddy4 when the kid has the nunchucks in the mirror - dynamite hack
covers it as well.)
Tues - Sting concert in Grant Park. Wow. Jonny Lang was the opener.
Wow again.
Sunday - AFI....AFI.....A....F...I
::big grin::
Luke was my savior and we ended up going. YOU ROCK LUKE!!! ATTENTION
EVERYONE LUKE MILAN IS A SUPER COOL GUY AND I'M GLAD HE IS MY FRIEND!
AFI ....::sigh:: Put me in the crowd at a show...I'm a happy girl. Put
me in the crowd at a show of one of my favorite bands (w someone to
step behind to stay out of the pit) and I'm in heaven. I think I am
a mosh pit magnet though. It never fails that at almost every show I
go to there is a pit that starts within running distance of me. I'm
not against moshing or whatnot. I have in the past just not anymore.
The moshers though were an odd bunch. They would flap their arms around
hunched over and then jump around doing karate moves so I ended up calling
them ninja ducks. lol. Anywho...so AFI was amazing as always. Played
new stuff as well as the older stuff + some songs I have never heard
live. Davey jumped into the crowd...as usual. Got really close to him
as he crowd walked. If I was a little more aggressive I think I could've
pushed my way even closer. Prob would've gotten crushed but it might
have been possible.
Hot Water Music played as well. I liked them on cd and their live show
was good as well. Kinda reminded me of old school arrivals vocals at
times.
Going a ways back...
Monica's bday girls nite deally...No club this time due to getting down
there later than planned (I got "yelled" at for wanting to
yell out the car at some guys too. lol... but they were cute rocker
guys! lol ) soooo COYOTE UGLY, baby! I was in heaven. The music
there ROCKS! Nirvana, Guns & Roses, Veruca Salt, Def Lep, 311, Pantera...
+ who knows how much more. They did play some crazy dance-ish stuff
too. I'm sooo going back - we all agreed this after about an hour there.
Yes, yes....Volcano Girls is "the" song now. Heehee. Monica
an' I ended up rockin' out up on one of the platforms starting w that
song. :) GO MELLIE AN' JANINE for getting up there too. Oooh can't want
til next time - want to dance on the actual bar. lol.

Why is it that people say others won't come to a show b/c it is being
held in a church hall? If one of the bands is a band you like and you
are able to attend the show wouldn't you just go? Believe me, there
are times that I cannot go to shows for whatever reason. I am not talking
about people who had actual reasons for not attending. However if it
was right in my neighborhood and yet I wouldn't go b/c it was in a church
hall?????? HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That is lame. I've gone to a forest

Th.09.04.03:The creative streak is continuing.
I've
been in one for the last week or so. It is great, well other than waking
up in the middle of the nite w/ lyrics/ideas in my head and having to
write them down. Both guitars have been out - the Fender w/ no need
to be re-tuned and the Ovation was just off enough to be annoying. Writing
wise - 3 new, 2 need like 2 more lines and then they are done. The third
is still in pieces. 2 new drawings almost done as well.

Stop ruining, I mean remaking, movies!
I heard a discussion on the radio not too long ago that made me stop,
look at the radio and say "WHAT?!" The topic was Britney Spears
in a remake of Footloose. ::shakes head:: What is the world coming to?
I thought the hype about her was over and done with. True, she is good
for a laugh and the occasional Halloween costume. (I'm guilty of that
one.) Why do they need to keep remaking the good old movies???
I am not knocking all remakes. There are some that were good and others
that just, well you get the point. Footloose though??? That's one of
those movies that you don't mess with. That would be like messing with
Pretty Woman. You don't do something like that.
Why not base a new movie on it if you have run out of ideas?
It would work. It'd be one of those "hey this is kind of like a
newer version of (insert movie name here" deals. Just think of
Romeo and Juliet. I have seen so many different versions of that storyline
and I know there will be more of them to come.
Ok, I'm done. I know it's a short one but my head hurts and I am being
lulled into a calm state by the Stabbing Westward song that is currently
playing.

I
must say that this weekend was amazing. Even with all the yucky rainy

ruin my good mood.
The wdB show on Saturday rocked! I am mad at myself for not bringing

of the set. From what I was told by the guys I didn't miss too much

always ends up one of those "hey we all should go to (insert club
name here) - yeah that is a cool idea - plans don't work for whatever
reason" deals. Bah. This time it wasn't technically planned but
it still worked. I know Monica would be willing. I just wasn't sure
about the wdB guys. Brian, Dave, and Luke were more than willing which
totally rocks in my book. If I had known that they would actually dance,
I would've said something to Monica earlier. (The guys were cool enough
to hang out w/ us instead of leaving to begin with.) I mean, c'mon this
is ME. Dance? Of course, years of ballet, tap, jazz, + the whole swing
troupe yrs + who knows how many other dances/nites out.. you better
believe it. For goodness sake, I was dancing around the kitchen barefoot
while washing dishes. lol.
So I don't think this weekend can get any better but it does. I have
an ENTIRE news update on the wdb site
- in the flash version (the nondialup one.) Being the big dork that
I am, go here and you can see it. (Printscreen
is a beautiful thing.) This totally left me speechless. I was looking
at the screen w this big aww smile. I have gotten verbal thank you's
for being walking billboards( when I used to staple flyers to my backpack
yrs back,) flyers and one written in an old SA cd. (Though the last
few my name has been missing. hrmph.) This blows them all away. First,
they actually use the flyers I made for them - sent them out to their
streetteam, mailing list, all that fun stuff and people really liked
them. That was majorly cool. Now this too! I am sooo a happy girl.
Rented What A Girl Wants - surprisingly really good. I cried twice at
the end.
New quotes up in say what.

Rant for this update:
Not so much of a rant today - more so just me rambling...
I actually listened to Pooch's show today. Nothing personally against
him or the other newbies prior to today but with the sitch there before
I gave up on the station. Now only specific times I will listen - basically
for the people not the station itself. I also "found" some
of my old playlists in a file folder - computer not literal, though
I have a notebook or two of playlists somewhere. I know I didn't throw
it out. It made me laugh somewhat - not at the songs but rather at how
much of a punk show I did have. Ah yes, the memories....esp the days
getting freaked out b/c someone walked in as I was in my own world rockin'
out/dancing in the studio and I didn't see them.
(For those who didn't know, I was on the radio for roughly 4 years give
or take - started the summer before I started SXU. I played everything
when I had to but my general picks were in the rock, punk, metal, local
areas, heaviest on the punk. Sometimes to throw people for a loop I'd
play something mellow or swing or something along those lines.)

Th.08.21.03: Days of dancing, drinking & jean skirts
Never
underestimate the power of large groups, predominately female, @ Karaoke
nite. "I waaaaaaaaaaaaant you to want me, I neeeeeeeed you to need
me." :) + the fact that the guy actually started playing real music
between people rocked. I doubt that places really does the dancing thing
but WE DID LAST NITE! lol. Kudos to the guy who sang "Pour Some
Sugar on Me" since everyone was out there dancing. I think that
was the song that my hair fell down during. lol. Can't remember an'
NO I WAS not drunk! Had the worst ever amaretto stone sour though. C'mon
people it's not a hard drink to make. I don't know what she did to it.
Somewhat mellow yet good as always - Brad's party Saturday. By the end
of the nite everyone was singing - Veruca Salt, old school Metallica
(brought back good time w/ that stuff), Andy's funk CD, Dynamite Hack,
pretty much anything Danzig related + more. One of the things I like
about that group is that they can talk music. It is so blah when you
are talking to people and their eyes go dead when they talk music. True,
I have been a bonafide music junkie since the days of my CareBear tape
player - yes I was a lil rocker :) , but it is so aggrivating. Sit an'
talk music w/ me an' I'm a happy girl.
Pooch's show didn't have the full turnout he expected so I feel bad
but so goes the scene at times. I've been to so many shows the past...sheesh
like 8 years with only a handfull of people. The bands were excellent
+ LOUD. Who did BENDER headlined an' I have pix of that that will up
soon. Nelly covers + silly string attacks... never a dull moment w/
those guys.
New quotes up. New pix coming shortly - wdB, Labyrinth girls nite most
def. I'm adding a flyer section to star9 as well - found a bunch of
stuff I did for the Angel + I am the flyer babe for wdB now. More Photoshop
fun - SWEET!
Rant for this update: Ode to Stupid People: "Almighty"
Music Authority Moron edition:
I have dealt with this before, not personally since I'm not in a band,
but still. You get the people who give themselves the authority to badmouth
people to high hell an' it makes me mad. I'm not saying that these individuals
do not have the right to voice their opinion. I see this more so as
the usual - I do/don't like (insert band name here) because..."
Debating to follow is decent at times. I can't honestly say that I would
never do that b/c I have but I'm not going to sit an' whine as my response.
Pulling the music snob/I worked at a radio station an' went thru hundreds
of CDs a week/I know that I am talking about works as well but I do
so try not to be a music snob. Ok enough about me...back to the subject
on hand.
So I go to the wdB site as I usually do to see if anything new is up
and there is this insane onslaught of moronic postings there. Of course
it immediately reminds me of the SA stuff + various other bands from
the past. What ticks me off so much is when people talk crap about talented
bands that are passionate about what they do. All the cookie cutter
generated stuff out there that melts into one another an' numbs your
brain - too much out there. I can hear at least one person saying, "well
don't you know these guys now, so this is why you are saying this, etc?"
True. Here however is the rundown.....
I went to a bar to see a band play which ended up not playing b/c a
member was under 21. After getting my $ back + some, I was ready to
leave until I get a demo passed down the bar to me - wdB. Since Pooch,
Pete an' Justin have talked about this guys so much, I recognize the
name an' make it known and surprise, the guys end up being super nice
an' I stay to see the show.
Now I've been to who knows how many local shows since I was 14 an' have
seen a LOT of bands. Well, by halfway through the first song I liked
them an' by the second I was hooked. (The last time this happened was
w/ Plain White Ts an' the Dog and Everything so we're talking a number
of yrs ago.) Basically a possible disaster of a nite was adverted. It
was a good thing that I didn't leave.
Soooooo to say that it annoyed me b/c they were badmouthing the guys,
yes. They have been nothing but great to me.( I've dealt w/ too many
people w/ this "I am the almighty musician persona an' won't talk
w/ you other than hello." If you are talented it doesn't give you
the right to act like that. Hmm lets see... people might actually like
the band more.) The fact that the guys are cool makes the music even
better - not saying that it isn't to begin w/ already.
I was plotting to post on their message board an' send a nice reply
there but I didn't. I've gotten in one argument about this band already
- tommy @ quigleys when he was saying that it was all just X hype. Don't
tell me talent is hype. Ooh that got me mad. I bet my eyes went all
dark like people say they do when I get ticked. I however won that one
- prob me yelling at him across the table in the bar not backing down
cinched it. lol.

Bentar is playing RidgeFest! Wooohooo! This is most def the best headliner
in a while. I'm not knocking The Bacon Brothers or Rick Springfield
but it has been a few yrs since both have played. Kansas - last year
- blah.
So comes the festive season of laughing at people that I so enjoy every
year. The mighty beer garden + various rednecks that come from who knows
where make it very amusing. I swear that neighborhood festivals bring
out the retro in people and we are not talking the cool kind. I think
that 80s will be in out in droves even more so this yr. However w/ the
headliner being one of the most acclaimed rockers of the 1980s I see
it as more logical. I, however, have no desire to drag out the day-glo
shoe laces and whatnot. I'm not even sure that I still own them actually.
Other happenings - past in this case - Kristin's luau ( in which there
were people were calling themselves pirates - the one I talked to was

actually did! Very very nice Mucho points for that. Interesting conversations

I like reality television. I do admit that it is an addiction of mine
but I haven't gotten sucked into the entire deal. I still can't get
into Fear Factor and that Mr. Personality was just plain weird. The
pistachio looking masks creeped me out.
Today, however, it ticked me off. I was watching the model show today
and they get on this big eating disorder kick about one of the girls
- Elise who is tall and thin (+ also my fav along w/ Adrienne.) Anywho
- so they start giving this poor girl crap because she is thin. People
always put all this political correctness junk out there esp if you
are talking about someone who is heavier than whatever someone's standard
is regarding weight. If you're doing this kind of badmouthing then you
are a horrible person. How dare you..blah blah blah. Now if it is talking
to someone who is thinner than someone's standard is regarding weight,
AND IS NATURALLY THIN, then you are doing them a favor, saving them,
keeping them from starving themselves....blah blah blah.
Shouldn't this be the same thing... harassment? I totally understand
that being healthy is important but with all the crap this girl has
to deal with so far I'm not surprised that she doesn't seem ecstatic
about meals w/ the rest of them. Some of those girls...oooh I would
have told them off soo long ago. The thing is though she is eating in
the footage! ARG!
There is a girl on there that is considered a plus sized model and yet
they aren't harping on her because of her weight.
This something that sooo bugs me. I don't care really about weight,
if you are a rat, you are a rat. It doesn't matter your size. I had
to deal w/ crap about being thin for years. Luckily I wasn't one of
those little kids who ran away crying. Come to think of it, I was a
pretty spunky lil kid. It is sad that people have to be so critical
about others but that is just the way it is. If you took some of these
people who like to badmouth others so much and stuck them in the hot
seat I doubt 100% would be able to take it.
Maybe next week one of the cranky people will be eliminated from the
show.

were quite good and tear-worthy at their ends. So now they join the
ranks of my other cancelled/ended favs (incl. My So-Called Life and
Kindred: the Masquerade.)
So what's to come? Hopefully, more decent television. There are so many
that I can do without that are out there now. Anything causing you to
eat something extremely gross when you could just walk somewhere else
to get real food should be gotten rid of. Hmmm, at least those parts
should be removed, then those shows would be more enjoyable.

T.3.11.03 - The music addict is happy.
I do consider it an addiction, I really do. In the past two
days I have bought three new CDs. True three is not an enormous amount
but with the cased city that is growing within my room, tis quite a
bit. Now I have to rearrange everything again though I had started that
sometime ago. Tis an organized clutter, I swear. I know where they all
are within my lil system but I have gone away from my system for some
time an' have thrown myself for a loop in the process.
So currently my latest audio obsessions are the new AFI
(Sing the Sorrow) and Evanescence
(Fallen.) Both are so hauntingly beautiful. There is nothing like buying

music so perhaps I will actually have some new art to post within the

- new AFI CD: T minus two days an' counting
Yes yes yes...new AFI. I so can't wait to get this release.
I've been listening to it online - webstreaming
version so w/ my ever so "cooperative" web connections
I've heard it an' love it already. Tuesday I shall most def be out there
in the world spending the enormous amount of $ that the stores are charging...well
some of them. $6 or $7 for Sing the Sorrow depending on where you go.
Can't go wrong w/ that now can you?
I redid eyescream. No lil explanations w/ the pix right now. I'm going
to have those nice lil opening to new windows in the near future. I
had planned on starting that today but my feet have gone somewhat numb
from sitting on this chair for too long + I'm hungry and want to zone
out watching TV.
I know there are still parts of the site not working properly. I'm working
on them, I promise. Spring Break is a great thing for doing things like
Sr Projects/papers as well as webwork. Though minus the paper part tis
one an' the same. Once Three Thirty Music, the local music site otherwise
known as my senior honors project is more so up an' running there will
be a link here.
Rant for this update:
Tis nice to see that people are selling good music for a good price.
(see above comment regarding AFI.) I admit that I do buy CDs for more
than that amount. Tis the way when the music you like isn't all the
"hit" music that is out there. (I could start on "corporate"
music and such but I'll just stick to the topic on hand.) I remember
back in the day (ok I sound old now. lol) when you could get a CD at
a chain store for $11.99. It is a good thing though that now I'm more
picky w/ what I actually buy. I got sick of buying CDs only to find
that out of 15 or so tracks I only liked 2 or 3. I think that if the
prices go back down, not a huge amount perhaps $2-$3, that would work.

F.2.28.03 - $0.62
That's right sixty-two cents...all I had to pay for the Donnas
CD I bought today @ Threshold. All hail store credit for selling back
my old CDs!
Fixed the linkage link problem...oops. Somehow missed that one.
More pictures soon...seriously. Gotta love the digicam.
Rant for this update:
Nothing today. Minus being tired, I'm actually complaint free.

Donnas - Get Skintight |
Th.2.20.03
My eyes hurt so I'm keeping this short. Please bear with any
inconsistencies that might be present. I absolutely hate leaving this
as such but I assure you that within the next few days it will be all
completed. I have decided to revise several of the sections as well
so once those changes have been made, I will post something here on
the main page.
M.2.10.03 - I'd still be asleep if not for the Software meeting...
I have found a new addiction (yes I know this
is going somewhat online journal-ish but it will never truly be one
so don't expect any deep dark secrets or slanderous comments)
DIGITAL VIDEO. If all goes as planned and my mind isn't fried
from going thru the footage second by second, there will be a Shattered
Angel video. The magnitude of it is yet to be determined - might be
just part of a song for class but I'm hoping for a full one as well.
"New" band alert - A
Static Lullaby. True I have known about them for a few weeks now
but my ordered CD came so tis "new." I'm hooked (tis currently
in the CD player in the other room), they so rock. ::lil grin::
I''ve decided to try not to add too much new stuff right now for I want
to get the "flow" of the site done - I've been lazy an' realized
that I had left the old layout for some + then I don't have to worry
about annoying connections and getting kicked off when I'm uploading.
I've started on the linkage a bit. I have a feeling the music link list
is going to be quite large once I'm done.
Rant for this update (short an' semisweet):
Mosquitos in February:
Yes, I'm talking about mosquitos in Febraury b/c my left ankle was chewed
up by one of those lil buggers last Friday. Tis freeeeeeezing out (oh
how I hate the cold) and yet one managed to seek refuge within that
church and find me... Grr.

Th.1.16.03
- Happy Birthday to Me!
I had planned on changing the whole look of dollsteak over break
but as usual I have changed my mind art wise again. So this layout etc
is staying until I am completely happy w/ the design idea I have made.
I have called it quits @ the station (on-air wise)- the era that started
back in July of '99 is now over. I could have kept my show on Tuesdays
but there was this thing called a class that I have to go to, actually
two of them. I'm still doing the webwork there as well as the newspaper
so I'm not out of student media all together. The last of my playlists
is here.
I'll be adding more here an' there... new pictures eventually as well
as a few new art/desktop stuff.
